Cabinet Ministers have agreed to a phased easing of level 5 restrictions from next month.
From April 12th, people will be able to travel anywhere within their own county or 20km of their home if it is close to a county border.
Home construction will also resume from then which coincides with the return of all children to in-class learning.
From April 19th, inter-county GAA training will be allowed to resume along with training for high-performance athletes.
A week later people will be able to play golf and tennis while underage sports training will be allowed to get underway outdoors.
The number of people allowed to attend a funeral will also increase to 25 from April 26th.
Two people who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will also be able to meet up indoors.
So far over 224,000 people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.
In May, hairdressers, barbers and other personal services will be allowed to resume along with non-essential retail, which will first open with click and collect services.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin is due to make the official announcement after 6pm.
