A crown commemmorating the milennium of the Battle of Clontarf is being unveiled in Dublin Castle today.
The Brian Boru Milennium crown is being given as a gift to the Irish people from the charity Jewels for Cures.
The crown is made of silver and gold and references jewellery from the period.
The crown will be on display in the Throne Room in Dublin Castle during Easter week, and will later tour the country and be shown abroad.
Donors to the crown include Prince Albert of Monaco.
Meanwhile - over 500 Vikings are preparing to descend on Dublin’s Northside to mark the millennium of the Battle of Clontarf.
They’ve taken up camp in St. Annes Park in Raheny where they’ll take part in a number of re-enactments over the Easter weekend.
40 thousand people are expected to visit the park where Dublin City Council has put on a number of events to mark the occasion.
