Investigations are continuing into the death of man in Co Wicklow, after his body was recovered from the Avoca River in Arklow this morning.
He was one of two men who entered the water overnight.
The second man made it to shore and raised the alarm - but the body of the man in his 40s was recovered a short time later.
An apartment at the nearby Marina Village complex is sealed off - it's understood the men may have been there before entering the water.
Initially it had been thought that up to four people had eneted the water and a major search was launched. However Gardai, coastguard units and the rescue helicopter were all stood down at around 10 am this morning.
The mans body has been removed to Loughlinstown Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
These residents say they are shocked by the incident:
