A man found dead in Sligo yesterday evening suffered a very violent death, the Today FM newsroom has learned.
A post-mortem is today being carried out on the body of the man found in 'unexplained circumstances' at around at 8:30 pm yesterday evening.
The gruesome discovery was made at a house in the Cartron Heights area to the north of Sligo Town.
Gardaí have said the results of the post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation; however, it is believed the man suffered severe injuries to his neck.
The scene has been sealed off while Gardaí continue a forensic examination this morning.
