Gardaí say they're investigating a possible link between a foiled ATM robbery in Co. Cavan overnight, and more than a dozen ATM thefts in the border area so far this year.
Over €300,000 in cash, along with several vehicles, was seized in a follow-up operation in Moynalty in Co. Meath, after officers intercepted a digger being used to remove a bank machine in Virginia at 2.30am.
Two men were arrested at the scene, while a 61 year old man was detained at the site in Meath.
All three can be held for questioning for up to 7 days.
Gardaí are still trying to locate a third suspect.
Superintendent Gordon Englishby of Baileboro Garda Station is appealing for witnesses to come forward.
