The ASTI is advising its teachers to engage with the new calculated grading system for the Leaving Cert, after securing full indemnity for teachers.
The union had said that the state indemnity fell short, and wanted a guarantee that all costs would be covered if a student - unhappy with their grades - was to make a claim.
Following engagement with the Department of Education a resolution has been found.
The ASTI says it has now got the necessary clear assurances and clarifications that allow teachers to proceed with the new grading system without fear of negative financial consequences.
The Department has told the Union that "in all cases where the indemnity applies, the Chief State Solicitor’s Office will take over the running of the litigation."
The ASTI says this now ensures that a teacher will not have to employ their own legal team to defend themselves and run the risk of incurring large irrecoverable costs and expenses.
