Annual grocery shopping bills are almost €1,000 more than the same time last year.
Kantar says inflation in shops has hit a record high of 13.4%.
While, sales of own-brand products have gone up by 9.4 % in the last three months.
The study also found that Halloween sales were down this year with only 18% of households buying pumpkins - compared to 24% last year.
But, there was still an extra €2.2 million spent on chocolate and crisps over the period.
Christmas isn't coming early with households likely feeling the bite of the cost of living as there's already €1.2 million spent on seasonal chocolate compared to the same time last year.
And at this stage in 2021 30% of Irish households had bought a tin of biscuits - that's just at 23% now.
The only exception for the Christmas treats is mince pies. They've seen an increase in sales compared to the same time last year.
