An Average Of 3.2m Containers Returned Everyday Last Month
347 million drinks containers have been returned since the Deposit Return Scheme started in February.
The company running it says 84% of people in the country have used one of the reverse vending machines.
Re-Turn says one in five people have taken the cash option, while the vast majority use in-store vouchers after returning bottles and cans.
There was an average of 3.2 million containers returned every day in July, comparing to 67,000 containers a day in February when the scheme was still in a trial process.
The scheme was introduced initially to increase recycling rates and to try to reduce waste across the country.
