Almost 325,000 people tuned in to Abbey Theatre events online this year.
The Theatre has been shut since March as a result of COVID-19, but continued to host performances virtually.
This year's online audience is almost three times the number of people who would have attended the Abbey in pre-pandemic times.
Neil Murray, director of the Abbey, says almost half were from overseas.
He said: "Over the whole period the year, we had 325,000 people tune in to watch Abbey Theatre events online.
"54% were from within Ireland, but 46% were from overseas - 30% from the UK, and just over 6% from the US."
He said there was also 'good engagement' from places such as Canada, Australia, Germany, France and Spain.
Over 18,700 people attended a live performance at the national theatre while it was open this year.
