AI has been named as Collins Dictionary's Word of the Year.
The dictionary says artificial intelligence is considered to be the next great technological revolution, and AI has seen rapid developments and has been much talked about in 2023.

Other shortlisted words include 'nepo baby' which is someone whose famous parents are perceived as helping their to advance and progress their career.
The term 'ultra-processed' also features in the shortlist, which describes food which is prepared using "complex industrial methods from multiple ingredients, often including ingredients with little or no nutritional value".
'Deinfluencing' also saw a spike in usage in 2023, and refers to using social media to warn followers to avoid certain products or lifestyle choices.
'Bazball' also appears, which refers to "a style of test cricket in which the batting side plays in a highly aggressive manner".
'Canon event', which refers to an incident or event which is "essential to the formation of an individual’s character or identity”, also appears on the list of notable words for 2023.
