The United Nations says Syria's humanitarian crisis is deteriorating rapidly - with over 9 million people now in need of outside assistance.
That figure is up by 2-point-5 million on the total the UN gave in September.
Meanwhile, the UN's envoy to Syria is due to hold talks with the US and Russia - aimed at paving the way for a peace conference.
The conference - which is due to take place in Geneva later this month - has been thrown into doubt with opposition leaders refusing to take part unless Assad stands down as Syria's President.
