Over seven and a half thousand people came off the live register this week.
That's according to provisional figures revealed this afternoon by the minister for social protection.
Live Register figures are usually only published once a month - and the most recent figures, released last week, showed over 415,000 people signing on.
But the Minister for Social Protection is given provisional figures every week - and this afternoon Joan Burton said this week's figures were remarkably healthy.
A Department spokesman said most of the drop is as a result of people leaving the live register to return to full-time education.
It remains to be seen whether the return of more people to college later this month will have a bearing on the final unemployment rate for September.
