A new opinion poll shows that 75 per cent of Ireland's 'thirty- somethings' are in favour of gay marriage.
The finding is contained in wide ranging survey of people aged between 30 and 39 - carried out for Today FM and the Irish and Sunday Independent.
1,000 adults were questioned in an online poll last month - by market researchers Behaviour and Attitudes.
The findings were broken down to people aged between 30 and 39 - to form 'Ireland's Thirty Somethings - Living on the Edge' survey.
The first part the poll being released today focuses on morality issues.
Among the findings - three quarters of 30- somethings - say same sex couples should be allowed to marry.
However fewer respondents believe gay couples should be allowed to adopt children - at 66 per cent.
More than 2 in 5 of those surveyed believe there are too many immigrants coming into the country.
Elsewhere 55 per cent of 30-somethings identify themselves as being members of the Catholic Church - however 28 per cent say they never attend any religious ceremonies - with 50 per cent doing so less than once a month.
Despite the low attendance - almost two thirds would have their children baptised in a church.
The poll also shows that just under 50 per cent of those polled have experimented with some form of drugs.
