47,000 children are waiting to see a specialist consultant at the three Dublin Children's Hospitals
Waiting lists have increased by 46% since June 2016 at Our Lady's Children's Hospital Crumlin, Temple Street Children's University Hospital and the National Children's Hospital at Tallaght University Hospital.
More than 19,000 children have to wait more than 12 months.
There are an additional ten thousand children waiting for outpatient appointments at other hospitals around the country.
Vice President of the Irish Hospital Consultants Association Laura Durcan says 'It's getting worse and worse and we talk about these numbers and they're huge, but each one of those is a little person who's development is being curtailed by something that should be intervened upon in a timely manner'.
