A 47 year old woman has died and an 8 year old girl has been injured in a car crash near the Ring of Kerry.
The woman was killed when the car she was driving hit a tree on the N72 at Killorglin at twenty past twelve today.
The 8 year old girl - the only passenger in the car - is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Kerry General Hospital.
The road was closed for a time for a technical examination but it has since re-opened.
Gardai in Killarney are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to come forward.
