There's been a 46% increase in the number of motorists caught speeding by Gardai this year.
The figure was released today on National Slow Down Day, with Garda speed checkpoints in operation across the country.
According to Gardai the rise in the number of motorists caught speeding is down to an increase in detections, as well as an increase in those driving above the speed limit.
So far today 33,000 vehicles have been checked, with 130 motorists caught speeding.
