A new report has revealed nearly 40 per cent of sex attacks on children are carried out by under 18s.
The Rape Crisis Network of Ireland has been looking at the age profiles of offenders and survivors.
It's recommended that young people be better educated about harmful behavior.
Last year 192 children aged between 4 and 17 attended 15 Rape Crisis Centres and CARI centres.
The report finds that the age at which abuse starts has a significant impact on the type of abuse suffered and the length of time it lasts
