Oxfam deals with second generation refugees in Lebanon

It's estimated that three quarters of those who fled the conflict in Syria are women and children.

Four years on from the start of the conflict, hundreds of thousands of children are growing up in refugee camps.

Our reporter Juliette Gash went to visit a children's programme that Oxfam works with in Baalbeck, in Lebanon.

Since 2012, 172 million euro has been given by the European Commission to fund humanitarian work in Lebanon.

Irish people are supporting millions of Syrian refugees through donations and through Irish Aid – which has given almost 31 million euro in response to the Syria crisis.

As the Syrian crisis nears its fourth anniversary next week – Syrian people continue to flee the ongoing atrocities.

Around 1 in around four people in Lebanon is now a Syrian refugee and the Lebanese government is trying to clamp down on those entering the country with tighter controls.

Our reporter Juliette Gash visited the Bekaa valley in Lebanon with Oxfam Ireland to hear some of the stories of the displaced;

It'Â’s almost four years since the start of the Syrian conflict which has seen the death of 200 thousand people.

Millions of Syrians have been forced to leave their homes with 7.6 million internally displaced.

A further 3.7 million people have fled abroad.

This week, Juliette Gash travelled with Oxfam Ireland to visit some of their projects with refugees in Lebanon.
