An additional 34 thousand people have received the pandemic unemployment payment this week.
In total, the PUP was issued to just under 330 thousand people today.
It's cost the state €95.5 million.
Most claims have been made by people who were working in the accommodation and food service sector.
Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys says the increase in claims was expected as a result of the move to Level 5 restrictions.
Since they came into force, around 86 thousand people have made a claim for the PUP.
Meanwhile, 3,770 people are currently in receipt of an Enhanced Illness Benefit payment.
