There have been 2,950 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ireland today.
The five-day moving average of new cases now stands at 4,662.
As of this morning, there were 536 patients with COVID-19 being treated in Irish hospitals.
That’s up 33 from yesterday - although numbers often rise over the weekend due to delays in discharges.
Hospital numbers are still lower than this day last week, when there were 579 patients with the virus in Irish hospitals.
110 patients with the virus are currently in intensive care.
Today’s figures come ahead of new restrictions coming into force tomorrow, including new rules around social distancing in indoor venues and the closure of nightclubs until January 9th.
