294 children went missing from state care last year.
According to freedom of information figures, they were all aged between 10 and 17 and the majority were boys.
There were 319 cases, involving 294 individual children.
There were 185 cases of boys going missing, as well as 134 girls.
Tusla says these incidents relate to children going missing for a period of 20 minutes or more, with the gardaí notified to help find them.
The Child and Family Agency says children reported missing from care are recognised as the most vulnerable in society.
Tusla says most of the children were found within 24 hours and all were eventually located.
