285 gardaí were injured after being assaulted on duty last year.
According to freedom of information figures, it's a 17% increase from the previous year.
243 gardai got occupational injuries after being assaulted on duty in 2021, rising to 285 last year.
52 of last year's assaults were in Dublin, and 25 were in both Cork and the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Garda Division.
Of last year's figures, 23 involved bone fractures or dislocations - and 17 were open wounds.
102 were bruises, grazes or bites, and one officer received multiple injuries that were serious.
Garda Damien McCarthy, from the Garda Representative Association, says the problem is getting worse.
"It is a massive issue because we've seen in the recent past that there's been a massive societal change in terms of the levels of violence that guards are experiencing on the street.
"The latest figures published in relation to guards being injured on duty make for very difficult reading.
I think it's a very serious problem, and we've seen the figures spiral out of control in the recent past".
