The winner of the Man Booker Prize for 2013 is New Zealand writer Eleanor Catton.

The 28 year old was the youngest person ever shortlisted for the prize.

She won the £50,000 award for her novel The Luminaries - an epic ghost story set in the gold fields of New Zealand in the 1860s.

Irish writer Colm Toibin was one of the six writers shortlisted for this year's Booker.

He was nominated for his novel The Testament of Mary.
