Gardai have issued around 1,500 fines for people making non-essential journeys over the past two weeks.
As of two weeks ago people who travel further than 5km outside their home can be fined €100.
Since their introduction on January 11th, 909 fines had been processed while 645 others are currently being processed.
The 645 fines being processed include ones issued during the weekend but during the last week.
Gardai are continuing to carry out checkpoints and high visibility patrols at public amenities across the country.
