Around €5 million worth of mobile phones have been stolen in Ireland over the last 20 months.
But Gardaí say of the eleven and a half thousand phones taken since January last year, only 10% are recovered.
They're appealing to people to be "Streetwise" and to download a trusted "find my phone" app.
Garda divisions in Dublin accounted for the biggest number of stolen handsets, followed by the likes of Limerick, Kildare, and Galway.
