There are 315 people with COVID-19 in Irish hospitals today, the latest HSE figures show.
That’s a slight rise compared to yesterday, although a significant decline from the 362 patients a week ago.
There are currently 59 people with the virus in ICU.
HSE CEO Paul Reid today said he does expect the health service to be dealing with COVID-19 through the winter and into next year.
However, he also said they do expect hospital numbers to fall below the numbers currently being reported.
He suggested hospital numbers have started “slightly trending downwards”, or at the very least stabilised.
