More than 1,300 motorists had penalty points struck off because of a Garda error.
The motorists in question have had fines worth more than 100,000 euro, repaid.
Speed cameras snapped the motorists driving in excess of a temporary speed limit put in place because of road works in four separate locations between January and April.
However According to the Irish Independent a special order needed to make the limit lawful had not been made.
As a result the 1,306 drivers cited have had their points quashed
