Twelve people have been arrested following a significant Garda operation in Limerick.
This morning, 65 properties were searched on the outskirts of Limerick city.
Homes, businesses and land was targeted as part of ‘Operation Coronation’.
Over 300 Gardai, Defence Forces members and Revenue officials were involved.
6 bank accounts with savings of 295,000 euro have now been frozen.
The searches also led to the seizure of:
• Cash valued at €62,500
• 5 designer watches
• 3 vehicles have been seized. A BMW, a VW Tiguan and a Range Rover
• 8 Horses
• Documentation has been seized and is currently being examined by Criminal Assets Bureau personnel
• Cannabis Herb with an estimated value of €8,000
• A Horse Box valued approximately €10,000
7 men and 5 women were arrested following the morning searches.
Eight of those arrested are suspected of money laundering offences.
One man was detained in connection with the possession of an offensive weapon.
Gardai say a number of these people will appear before Limerick District Court today.
The operation is still ongoing.
