An investigation has been launched following the discovery of a boy's body in Limerick City.
Shortly after seven o'clock yesterday evening, the 11-year-old boy's body was found at a house in the Ballynanty area of Limerick City.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and Gardaí are currently investigating all of the circumstances of his death.
A man in his late 20s was arrested and he is currently detained at Henry Street Garda Station.
The services of both the Office of the State Pathologist and Garda Technical Bureau have been requested.
The scene is preserved for a forensic and technical examination, and the investigation is ongoing.
