Paolo is currently number one in the UK and Irish album chart with his second album Caustic Love.
And to celebrate he gathered with his family in his Scottish hometown
According to the Daily Record, his mum, Linda, who runs the family’s famous fish and chip shop called Castelvecchi, in New Street, Paisley, admitted that she tuned in to the radio for the countdown.
She said: “We got the confirmation yesterday afternoon and we made sure we were all together for it. We had a wee family celebration and that was lovely but now he’s off doing his thing again. Paolo really deserves it. He works so hard and we’re all proud as punch.”
Awwwww, she sounds like a lovely wee lady and no doubt if her boy steps out of line she'll give him a good battering...sorry.
Paolo will also be appearing on Later ...with Jools Holland on BBC 2 on Friday night at 11pm.
