The release is a timely tribute and homage to one of the most important influences on Morrissey’s life and music: Lou Reed.

Morrissey’s version of the song was recorded live at The Chelsea Ballroom at The Cosmopolitan, Las Vegas on 25th November 2011.

Morrissey paid tribute to Lou Reed, saying:

“He has been there all of my life. He will always be pressed to my heart. Thank God for those, like Lou, who move within their own laws, otherwise imagine how dull the world would be.”

The original version of ‘Satellite Of Love’ appeared on Reed’s 1972 album ‘Transformer’, which was co-produced by David Bowie and Mick Ronson (Spiders From Mars):
