The Minister for the Environment Alan Kelly outlined the new capped annual water charges in the Dáil today.
Households that register will get a €100 Water Conservation Grant each year. This means charges capped for a single adult household at €60 and for others at €160.
Children will continue to receive a free allowance.
Minister Kelly said PPS numbers will no longer be required and the charges are being pushed back to 1 January 2015.
This means Households will face an “absolute maximum net cost” of slightly more than €3 a week for water.
