Writing in the Irish Daily Mail on Tuesday, Brenda Power, says that the arrival of thousands of Muslim men threatens the freedoms of Western women.
Brenda writes: "We need the courage, in the wake of Cologne and before any Syrian refugees arrive on our shores, to say that those who fail to respect our values and to appreciate the shelter they’ve been offered will be on the next plane home."
Colette Browne, columnist with the Irish Independent says "denigrating all refugees as 'rapefugees' is designed to stoke fear and prejudice."
She writes that we should "not pretend violence against women is a new phenomenon in the West."
The two columnists debate the fallout from Cologne and Sweden where police are accused of covering up sex attacks by refugees.
