A man regarded by gardai as one of the nation's most prolific burglars has been released on bail, despite his alleged connections to more than 60 crimes. The man was arrested last week but was released last week despite objections to bail by senior gardai. Meanwhile, according to figures given to Independent TD Noel Grealish by the Department of Justice over the last few days, almost a quarter of a million crimes — from murder to public order breaches — have been committed by people out on bail over the past 10 years.
