It all started with Natalie Imbruglia.
We recently learned that Natalie Imbruglia's song Torn is in fact a cover.
With a lot of internet searching we've realised that a lot of songs we both know and love are actually covers! (We're looking at you Westlife!)
Now everything is a lie.
Take a listen to the original of Torn by band Ednaswap:
Muireann wanted to know what other popular songs are actually covers.
You guys pulled the wool from our eyes and blew our minds with your cover song knowledge.
Check out some of the shockers below.
We can't believe our ears.
Mark in Cork told us Beyonce's If I Were A Boy is a cover.
And it's not Beyonce's only offence. We couldn't believe this one.
Beyonce has covered a Victoria Beckham song, from one of Victoria's first albums!
Julie said: "Nirvana - The Man Who Sold The World, totally didn’t know it was David Bowie’s song till the other day!!"
"The famous one is Sinead O'Connor Nothing Compares 2 U, originally a prince song" - Emer
"Hi Muireann, Wagon Wheel was a song by Old Crow Medicine Show before Nathan murdered it 😂" Sean in Co Clare
"Patti Smith - Because The Night was written by the boss Bruce Springsteen"
"Girls Just Want to Have Fun is a cover written and first recorded in 1979 by American musician Robert Hazard" from Deejay in Wexford.
Others we can't believe are:
Madonna - Ray Of Light
Happy Mondays - Step On
The Beatles - Twist And Shout
And of course, the ultimate copy of them all.
"The 1996 Eurosong scandal when a Irish entry was a cover of a previous Norwegian entry. With the words just changed. It was a fine looking horse in fairness." - Peter in Santry
