Fines and penalty points don’t seem to deter Irish motorists from making a phone call or checking social media so it's time to impound the phones of people caught using them while driving.
That’s the suggestion of Noel Gibbons, road safety officer with Mayo County Council, who says the fear of going 24 hours without a phone is a bigger deterrent than penalty points.
