Irish primary school teachers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of taking industrial action over the lack of promotions and increased workloads.
INTO’s general secretary Sheila Nunan told Matt that teachers are not prepared to continue to take on increased workloads while a ban on promotion continues.
Schools will remain open but teachers will refuse to carry out after-school administration duties.
Joe Lyons, a school principal in Limerick, says his staff are suffering from curriculum overload.
