Golfer Pádraig Harrington revealed on the Last Word in February 2014 that he had undergone treatment for skin cancer.

Speaking on the Last Word this evening, Padraig tells Matt he had further treatment following a check-up five weeks ago.

“I had my check-up again five weeks ago. I went in and I had about four of them frozen off this time...the ones I had before I had to have them operated off. They turned out to be non-melanoma.”

He urged people to be vigilant when it comes to their help and seek treatment early.

“When it comes to all medical things, you got to be pro-active. Whether it’s your skin with skin cancer, or any niggle.”

“We’re Irish and we’re brought up to believe “Ah I’ll be OK.”"

“Yes, you want to be strong character and you don’t want to complain and you don’t want to be seen to be like that but when it comes to medical stuff: If you get it early, you can sort everything out these days just as long as you get in early.

"Whatever the little thing is, have it checked out, talk to somebody about it, get it worked on."
