How do you go from being a professional athlete, competing in front of millions of sports fans around the world, winning gold medals to the quiet life of retirement?
Depression, chronic pain from a lifetime of injuries, sexuality and addictions are just some of the issues that athletes face when they retire.
However, some of the most recognisable athletes face this issues in silent and isolation.
The issue of athlete retirement is the subject of the Crossing the Line Summit which takes place in Dublin later this month.
We're joined by:
Ben Johnson – former 100 metre sprinter who won gold in the 1988 Olympics but was later disqualified for doping
Greg Louganis - four-time Olympic champion Greg Louganis is widely considered the greatest diver in history -
Gearoid Towey - four-time Olympic rower for Ireland and former World Champion and now founder of Crossing the Line summit.
The Crossing The Line Summit takes place on Saturday May 28th at Trinity College Dublin.
