Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake opened at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Tuesday. The spectacular production runs until this Saturday.
Matthew spoke to Matt about his production which is a modern re-interpretation of the classical ballet.
He explained:
“The first thing to say really is that it’s not really a ballet as such...I think when people think of ballet they maybe think of tutus and tights and point shoes and feathered headdresses and all that kind of stuff. Those kind of swans it’s not: it’s male swans - not men in tutus, not men in drag - but male swans”.
