Are you a feminist?
Journalist and writer Mary Kenny is, and she's written a new book about it called Am I A Feminist? Are You?
She joined us to discuss how feminism has evolved over the years.
"Everybody says they're a feminist, but the questions that have been around feminism for the last 40 or 50 years deserve looking at again," she said.
Mary was a founding member of the Irish Women's Liberation Movement in the 1970s. Some of the issues faced by women then are different to the ones they face today. How does she view feminism in Ireland in 2017?
"There's been a lot of development, but there are still lots of problems."
"I'm delighted to see all the positive things that have changed, but one of the reasons why there isn't equal pay across the board is that women tend to choose to do more part-time work and go into safer jobs. High risk jobs often bring more pay."
Some women - and indeed men - appear to be reluctant to call themselves feminists. But Mary says feminism is broad enough to allow people to decide which aspects suit their own outlook.
"People might choose one aspect of feminism and not another, but that's fine. It's a broad movement."
