The first ever awareness week for hepatitis C is being backed by three community groups – Community Response, HIV Ireland and UISCE.
It's estimated that between 20,000 and 30,000 people across Ireland could have undiagnosed hepatitis C.
Marianne was diagnosed with the virus 23 years ago.
“It’s a blood-borne disease and I got it by sharing a needle with someone else.”
Marianne says that living with any disease is always a challenge, but the stigma associated with hepatitis C makes for an especially difficult journey for those affected.
If you are concerned, you can visit HepInfo.ie, to find out more as to where you can get tested.
