Taking place on the 8th November up to 1,700 competitors will be joined by Former Irish International Soccer Star Kevin Kilbane as he takes on the Westport Sea2Summit event in aid of the John Giles Foundation & Down Syndrome Ireland.
Kilbane completed the London Marathon in 2013 but he sees the Westport Sea2Summit as an even bigger challenge. “It’s a completely new challenge for me, especially the 32k cycle but I’m really focused on the event and have received great encouragement from the John Giles Foundation & Down Syndrome Ireland”
Kevin's daughter Elsie has Down Syndrome which came as a shock when she was born. “Emotionally, I wasn’t in a great place. I spoke to David Moyes on the Tuesday and he said: ‘Look, take us much time as you want.’ It’s one of the reasons I respect David Moyes so much because of how wonderful he was with me at that time, knowing I was going through a difficult stage in my life."
