Dublin football legend Jason Sherlock made his debut in 1995 aged 19, winning an All-Ireland championship title that same year.

He has now written his autobiography, Jayo, about his long GAA career.

Jason says success came very quickly and happened all at once, but admits there was "a curiosity" about him "because I didn't have a typical GAA background or look typically Irish."

Jason's father was from Hong Kong, and he had to deal with his share of racism during his childhood. He says, "The reason I got into sport was to be accepted."

"I looked different, and that led to inquisitiveness and some slagging. It upset me and made me angry."

"It wasn't right, and as much as we've improved in our awareness of a multicultural society it's certainly not perfect, and I think it's important that I speak out. Some of it is a lack of knowledge or ignorance, but that doesn't make it right."

After tasting All-Ireland success at such a young age, Jason struggled at times over the years to cope with being part of a team that was no longer winning. But he says it helped make him a better player.

"I developed my resilience and character because we came back and wanted to improve. I like to think we tried that every year."

Jason also spoke to Matt about some of the other issues dealt with in the book, including the death of his father, his potential soccer career, and how he coped with being dropped from the Dublin team.
