On Wednesday, Minister for Health announced minimum prices on alcohol which will see a can of beer cost at least €1.95 and a bottle of wine costing in the region of €8.50.

But will the new laws work or will people just end up spending more money on alcohol?

Reuben Gray, chairman of Beoir - Ireland's beer consumers' organisation, argues that it won't work and we're already drinking less.

We hear from Declan Brady of World Wide Wines Off Licence in Waterford and what it means for his business.

Director of Alcohol Beverage Federation of Ireland Ross MacMathúna believes that new advertising rules will ban the use of pictures of people having a drink in a pub.
