A new study published today by the World Health Organisation revealed that Ireland was on course to be the fattest nation in Europe in just 15 years time. The figures show that 85pc of Irish women will be overweight and 57pc obese by 2030. Around 89pc of Irish men will be classified as overweight, with some 48pc obese. Matt was joined on the show by Dr Eva Orsmond and Professor Niall Moyna to discuss some of the findings of the report. Is it a bit alarmist? What can we do to slow down our escalating obesity problem? And should we really deny state-funded care to people whose health problems are caused by their own overindulgence?
