Bank of Ireland's sponsored tweet, in which they appeared to be encouraging people to move back in with their parents in order to be able to save the deposit for their first home, has caused a great deal of controversy. The tweet has since been deleted.
Have people been overreacting?
Green Party representative Una Power has described the tweet as "abhorrent."
"The tweet comes within the context of an extreme rental crisis in Ireland. It's completely blind to the difficulties that are facing young people who are suffering in an extreme rental market."
But Brendan Burgess of askaboutmoney.com says he doesn't know what the fuss is about.
"Life is about choices, and Bank of Ireland's tweet is very simple. I'd say it has prompted some people to think, maybe we should do that."
"People will have to cop on to themselves. If they want to buy a house, they're going to have to make sacrifices. A lot of people think they can rent their own place, have two or three children, have two or three holidays a year and then they can buy a house in Dublin 4. That's not going to happen."
