Lots of people have a hard time looking after their mental health in the workplace. Tomorrow is National Workplace Wellbeing Day, which is designed to get companies thinking about how they can provide appropriate support for employees who are struggling.
Caroline McGuigan is the CEO of Suicide or Survive, a charity which aims to end the stigma associated with talking about mental health. Caroline has had her own struggles with depression and anxiety, and at one stage was taking 16 tablets a day while continuing to work. She felt ashamed to tell her employer about the difficulties she was having, and it was this experience that prompted her to set up the charity. Her aim is to make sure companies have the right support services in place for people who need help with their wellbeing at work, and to make mental health "an ordinary conversation."
