Some believe that the phrase has grown beyond its definition to become something of a straitjacket that can often stifle debate and be used to close down opposing views.
There's also a view that people who wouldn't agree with some of Donald Trump's more outrageous statements still voted for him because they were sick and tired of being shouted down all the time.
