Gerry Adams has said he has never seen himself as white.

The Sinn Fein leader has come under sustained criticism for the use of the n-word in his tweet while watching Django unchained.

Mr Adams said he was comparing the character in the film with the people who live in Ballymurphy.

The Sinn Fein TD says he saw a parallel "between the plight and the struggle for African-Americans and people back here at home."

Deaglán De Breadún journalist and author of Power Play: the Rise of modern Sinn Fein, and Ruth Dudley Edwards, Historian, journalist and author of The Seven, discuss if Adams has a point when comparing the two communities.
